Now, anyone could snap and store images in small enough files to fit on limited camera storage while displaying reasonably well. JPEG files came into their own with the advent of digital cameras and the World Wide Web. They came up with the concept of lossy compression, which removed visual data that the human eye couldn't see and averaged out color variation. Raster file format extensions include: jpg/jpeg, psd, png, tiff, bmp and gif. These hundreds or even millions of pixels (which are very tiny) when viewed on screen, produce very vivid and dynamic images. The most common raster graphic is a photograph. The most common types of vector graphics are fonts and logos. The vector image “connects the points” and fills in the rest.
